Purpose Statement — Before collecting any data, the bot clearly states what data will be collected and why. Not vaguely ("to serve you better") — specifically ("to process your home loan application and verify your identity").
Active Consent Signal — The user must take an affirmative action. A spoken "yes," pressing a key, or a follow-up confirmation. Continuing to stay on the line is not consent.
Withdrawal Pathway — The bot must inform users that they can withdraw consent — and provide a clear, accessible path to do so. A callback number, an SMS code, a portal link communicated at end of call.
Audit Trail — Every consent interaction must be logged — time, content of consent statement, user response, call recording reference. This is your proof of compliance if the Data Protection Board comes knocking.
